I set out to design a wide, deep chair to sink into while drinking coffee and people watching on my porch in Pittsburgh.
The chair was inspired by the classic Adirondack Chair. As I was studying in Denmark, Scandinavian principals are prevalant in the design.
The chair can be assembled easily using threaded inserts and bolts. This enables easy transportation and shipping and cost efficiency.
We were challenged to be completely analogue in our design process. Developing my ideas through sketches and models.
The chair was constructed over the course of two weeks using White Ash and Duck Canvas.
At some point in its lifetime, a pillow moved from my couch to my chair, greatly improving the ergonomics.
As a result, I added a dart and a pillow to the chair back.
