Duration: 9 weeksTools: Construction, Farming, Sustainable Practice, Survival
I spent a summer living at Tranqvillium, a community dedicated to sustainability, self sufficiency and harmony with the earth.

Erik Ven, an architect and engineer who purchased 2.5 acres in the Mojave desert, founded Tranqvillium with the purpose of researching and teaching sustainable living practices. Erik resides there year round and offers a work exchange for people interested in living there.
The two stakes mark the spot to bury human waste

Underground greenhouse construction, the foundation is filled with broken glass to protect from subterranian critters.
The brick wall provides shade in morning, while the RV shades the hammock in the afternoon.

❷ Cob Wall

My primary job at Tranqvillium was constructing this wall. I processed glass bottles into transparent bricks in order to create the future laundry room.

Cob is a combination of soil, sand, water and straw. We strengthened our recipe using excess chicken eggs which act as glue.
