Project Duration: 7 weeks Advisor: Stephen Stadelmeier, CMU Tools: Prototyping, Drumming, Solidworks
Drummers are constantly looking for new sounds to incorporate into their work, often using methods like tape or rubber bands to secure various objects to their drum heads.
I set out to create a modular clamp system that allows drummers to secure different objects to change the acoustic properties of their drums.
Using wing nut, clamp the base to the rim of a drum.
Screw in attachment to short end of the U shaped bar.
Screw the U assembly to the clamp in desired placement.
I tried to stay true to the systems and form language established in drum products.
A majority of time was spent working out the tolerances of the clamp mechanism, as well as the reverb attachment.
